Som Distilleries & Breweries to Invest ₹600 Crore in Uttar Pradesh Greenfield Plant.

Som Distilleries and Breweries Limited (SDBL) has announced that its subsidiary, Woodpecker Greenagri Nutrients Private Limited, will establish a greenfield project in Khimsepur, Uttar Pradesh. The facility, which will house a brewery, distillery, and other manufacturing units, entails an estimated investment of ₹600 crore.

The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has allotted a 40-acre land parcel for the project. Construction will commence once the company secures regulatory approvals from the state government.

SDBL sees Uttar Pradesh as a key market for expansion, citing its large population, dynamic demographics, and supportive industrial policies.

Commenting on the development, J K Arora, Chairman of Som Group, said, “This greenfield project in UP marks a significant step in our expansion strategy. The state’s favorable business environment and immense market potential make it an ideal location for our new facility. We are committed to delivering high-quality products while contributing to local economic growth and employment generation.”

SDBL, a leading alcoholic beverage manufacturer in India, operates breweries in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha. Its product portfolio includes beer, rum, brandy, vodka, and whisky, with a growing footprint in the Indian market.
