Soma gets contract for Western Freight Corridor project
New Delhi: Soma Enterprise, a leading infrastructure company, announced that they have been awarded the contract for designing and construction of 54 major bridges for Western Freight Corridor by Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL).
The project, worth Rs. 605.15 crores, covers approximately 200 kms between Vaitarna and Utran on the Vasai-Bharuch section in the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat. Soma has commenced the work on this project, which is scheduled to be completed within 30 months.
DFCCIL is a special purpose vehicle created by Ministry of Railways to undertake planning & development, mobilization of financial resources and construction, maintenance and operation of the Dedicated Freight Corridors.
This is the first project awarded to Soma by DFCCIL for the Dedicated Freight Corridor, which is the biggest development programme being undertaken by the Indian railways since independence. The project has opened up substantial future opportunities for Soma in the Railway sector.
