South Central Railway Concludes Kavach 4.0 Trials Ahead of Installation Phase.

South Central Railway (SCR) has successfully completed field trials covering 487 route kilometres for the installation of Kavach 4.0, surpassing the Railway Board target of 402 route kilometres.

The trials mark a significant step in the zone’s safety enhancement efforts during the financial year 2025–26, with SCR undertaking the rollout of the indigenously developed automatic train protection system across its network.

Field testing was carried out across multiple sections, including Kazipet–Peddampet, Malkajgiri–Kamareddi, Charlapalli–Raghunathpalli, Guntakal–Raichur, and Mudkhed–Parbhani, covering a total of 81 route kilometres in key stretches. In addition, locomotive-based Kavach systems were also successfully tested and commissioned across these routes.

With the completion of these trials, SCR has moved closer to wider deployment of Kavach 4.0, aimed at enhancing operational safety and preventing train collisions across its network.
