State gets Rs. 330 crore for rural electrification.

The efforts of the State government in ensuring electricity coverage to all received a major fillip with the Union Power Ministry sanctioning Rs. 330 crore under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana.

Union Minister of State for Power Piyush Goyal handed over the sanction letter to State Minister K. Atchannaidu during a meeting of the power Ministers held in Guwahati recently. Mr. Atchannaidu accompanied by Energy Secretary Ajay Jain attended the conference on behalf of the State government.

The handing over of the letter marked the sanction of the first project to the State under the Yojana aimed at electrification of 6.83 lakh households including 4.32 lakh BPL households, electrification of 1,031 habitations and intensive electrification of 19,460 habitations
