Japanese team checks drinking water project.
Japanese team recently inspected the drinking water supply augmentation scheme implemented at a cost of Rs. 221.42 crore in the city.
The scheme was implemented to supply water to the extended areas of the Tiruchi Corporation, and to step up the quantity of water supplied to the residents.
Accompanied by M.Vijayalakshmi, Tiruchi City Corporation Commissioner, and senior officials, Toshiaki Shinozaki, Representative, and Mihir Sorti, Lead Development Specialist, Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA), visited the pumping station and collector wells on the Coleroon river and checked the functioning of the project funded by the agency.
After inspecting the main lines across the river Cauvery, the team visited several areas in the city where overhead tanks have been constructed for supplying water to the residents. Later, the team members held a discussion with Mayor A. Jaya at the Corporation office.
