State Govt to verify Indiramma housing scheme
Hyderabad: The State Government will conduct social audit and third party verification of all completed houses under Indiramma Housing Scheme to promote transparency.
A decision to this effect was taken by the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, at review meeting with the officials of the Housing Department here.
“Every house and the beneficiary would be told the benefits being extended to them by the Government in detail,” Dr Reddy said.
To speed up the programme, special officers in the rank of joint collector would be appointed in each district soon. “The Housing Department should race against the time to complete construction of houses under Phase I and II, and get ready for implementation of Phase III,” he said.
Top performers
While Visakhapatnam topped in performance with 91 per cent of houses under phase I, Hyderabad followed with 86 per cent, Anantapur (85 per cent), Vizianagarm (76 per cent) and Nizamabad with 75 per cent.
The construction of houses was not up to the mark in Adilabad, Warangal, Prakasam, Srikakulum and Nalgonda.
Nearing completion
So far 14.97 lakh houses were constructed under phase I and another 15 lakh houses were nearing completion.
Under Phase II, about 26 lakh houses were sanctioned out of which over 3.5 lakh houses has been grounded. Anantapur district tops in implementation of phase II, followed by Krishna, Chittoor and Ranga Reddy.
The phase III programme under Indiramma Housing would be launched in May. The preparation of lists would be completed by March 31, according to a release.
