Thomas Cook-owned vacation ownership company Sterling Holidays has won a bid to build a 3-star resort property at the proposed eco-tourism hub in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. The company plans to build a 50-70 room resort property spread over a three-acre land with an investment of about Rs 25-30 crore. The resort property will be built at Gajoldoba, the eco-tourism hub planned by chief minister Mamata Banerjee in Jalpaiguri.

'West Bengal government is developing a huge tourism hub which has all sorts of facilities, including hotels. We had bid for the resort and ours has been selected as the best bid for developing an eco-friendly resort,' Ramesh Ramanathan, managing director, Sterling Holidays, told ET.
