Stone Laid for Road Project.

The Puri-Brahmagiri- Satpada NH-316 would be reconstructed and widened prior to the Nabakalebara festival of the Trinity.

Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sanjay Dasburma laid the foundation stone for the road work at Brahmagiri recently.

The State Government had decided to widen the Puri-Satapada highway and take up infrastructure development of the Alarnath temple and its periphery near Bramhagiri as it expects 20 lakh devotees for the fortnight long 'anasara' of Lords Jagannath and Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra during the Nabakalebara festival next year.

To minimise the load of vehicular traffic on Puri- Alarnath temple route, the road will be widened by 10 ft at the cost of Rs. 17 crore, while over Rs five crore would be spent on infrastructure development for pilgrims at Brahmagiri. For black-topping of the road, Rs. 7.5 crore will be used, said Executive Engineer of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) Jalandhar Pradhan.
