"Suzlon expands its portfolio with a major 248.85 MW wind energy deal from ArcelorMittal in Gujarat."

Suzlon Group has won a 248.85 MW wind power order from ArcelorMittal Group’s renewable energy arm in India, as part of a larger 550 MW hybrid renewable energy project in Gujarat aimed at supplying clean power to ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel’s domestic operations.

Under the order, Suzlon will supply 79 S144 wind turbine generators (WTGs), each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW, for installation at Bachau in Kutch district, Gujarat. The company said the project will support the decarbonisation of steel production in India.

This is Suzlon’s fourth major wind energy order linked to green steel initiatives, taking its total contribution to around 1,156 MW of renewable capacity for the steel sector in the country, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

Commenting on the development, JP Chalasani, Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group, said the partnership reflects India’s transition towards a low-carbon future. He added that the order aligns with Suzlon’s strategic focus on expanding its engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) business, with the company targeting EPC to account for up to 50% of its overall order book in the future.
