Tamil Nadu Bets on Defence Manufacturing, Points to ₹3 Lakh Crore Growth Opportunity.
The Tamil Nadu government has intensified its efforts to position the State as a major aerospace and defence (A&D) manufacturing hub, expanding its outreach across multiple cities to highlight emerging business opportunities in India’s fast-growing defence sector.
At an industry interaction organised by the Tamil Nadu Defence Industrial Corridor (TNDIC) in Madurai, officials from the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) noted that India’s defence production crossed ₹1.54 lakh crore in the previous year, while exports exceeded ₹38,000 crore.
Officials said the State is aiming to leverage the Centre’s ambitious targets of ₹3 lakh crore in defence production and ₹50,000 crore in exports by 2029. Against this backdrop, Tamil Nadu is actively seeking to secure a larger share of investments and manufacturing activity in the sector.
