Tamil Nadu Releases ₹856 Crore Compensation to Landowners for Parandur Airport Project.

The Tamil Nadu government has acquired more than 1,100 acres of land for Chennai’s upcoming second airport at Parandur in Kancheepuram district. According to sources, the State has disbursed ₹856 crore in compensation to 1,155 landowners as part of the acquisition process.

Of the total beneficiaries, 557 are residents of the area, while the remaining landowners are based outside the region, sources added.

The Parandur airport project, estimated to cost ₹27,400 crore, was announced three years ago by the Tamil Nadu government. The Ministry of Civil Aviation granted its in-principle approval for the project in April this year, marking a key step toward establishing Chennai’s second major air hub.
