"Tamil Nadu Strengthens Semiconductor Push as Stalin Flags Off ADATA DRAM Unit".

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin recently laid the foundation stone for a new manufacturing facility of ADATA Semiconductor Pvt Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Taiwan-based ADATA Technology, at Sipcot Industrial Park. The plant will produce DRAM memory modules and flash drives.

The project, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding on January 8, 2024, involves a committed investment of ₹931 crore and is expected to create 823 new jobs, according to Guidance Tamil Nadu.

ADATA, a global leader in memory technology and the first Taiwanese company to set up memory module manufacturing in India, marks a significant milestone in Tamil Nadu’s semiconductor growth under the India Semiconductor Mission. The investment is particularly noteworthy amid a global DRAM shortage affecting the smartphone and electronics industries.
