Tata Power Renewable Bags 30 MW/120 MWh Battery Storage Project from NHPC for Kerala Grid.

Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) has announced it has secured a significant 30 MW/120 MWh battery energy storage project from state-owned NHPC. This crucial project, won through a competitive bidding process under NHPC's BESS Tranche-I tender, is earmarked to benefit the Kerala State Electricity Board Ltd (KSEBL), the ultimate user of the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) asset.

In a statement released on Friday, TPREL confirmed the project involves establishing a 30 MW/120 MWh battery storage system at a 220 kV substation in Kerala. This configuration means the 30 MW storage capacity can provide essential power backup for up to four hours, significantly enhancing grid stability and reliability in the region. The project underscores the increasing focus on integrating advanced energy storage solutions to support India's growing renewable energy landscape.
