TCG Crest Scientists Develop Sodium-Ion Battery That Charges in 5 Minutes.

A four-member team of scientists at the Research Institute for Sustainable Energy (RISE), under TCG Crest, has developed India’s first indigenous sodium-ion battery capable of charging up to 94 percent in just five minutes, according to a company statement released recently.

The newly developed battery delivers an impressive energy density of 180 Wh/kg, which is believed to be among the highest in India and possibly ranks among the top globally.

However, the statement clarified that this development does not yet signify that a commercial sodium-ion battery is ready for deployment, indicating that further work and testing are required before it can be brought to market.
