The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has approved the release of ₹176.5 crore to Telangana under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme. The funding is an incentive for achieving key milestones in road transport projects.

According to an official order, Telangana has completed Milestone 1 and Milestone 2 under Initiative A and Milestone 1 under Initiative B of the scheme. The state qualifies for ₹125 crore under Initiative A and ₹51.5 crore under Initiative B.

Under Initiative A, Telangana received ₹50 crore for notifying and implementing motor vehicle tax concessions and ₹75 crore for submitting a vehicle scrappage plan for government vehicles older than 15 years.

For Initiative B, the state secured ₹51.5 crore for awarding Automated Testing Stations (ATSs) in 37 districts, including 21 in priority areas.

Meanwhile, Telangana Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has directed officials to expedite road construction under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). He emphasized the importance of improving missing link roads, enhancing connectivity between district headquarters and the state capital, and upgrading existing road infrastructure.

At a review meeting, the minister urged officials to identify consultants for preparing detailed project reports and prioritize roads in poor condition.
