Telangana Govt Approves ₹24,000 Crore for Hyderabad Metro Phase II.

The Telangana government has granted administrative approval for the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase II project, a ₹24,269 crore initiative to be developed as a joint venture with the Central government. The project will cover five metro corridors spanning 76.4 kilometers, with Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) and the Centre each contributing 50% of the funding.

According to a government order issued by the municipal administration department on Saturday, the Telangana government will bear 30% of the project cost, totaling ₹7,313 crore. The Union government will contribute ₹4,230 crore, while a public-private partnership (PPP) will provide an additional ₹1,033 crore, covering about 4% of the total cost. The remaining 48%, amounting to ₹11,693 crore, will be financed through loans from international institutions like the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Asian Development Bank, and the New Development Bank.

The Phase II Metro Rail Project will extend over 116 kilometers, including a 40-kilometer corridor from Shamshabad Airport to the proposed Fourth City (Skill University). However, due to ongoing field surveys and planning, the development of this 40-kilometer segment will commence at a later stage.
