Telangana to Fund Metro Rail Phase 2 Entirely with 100% Equity: CM Reddy.
The Telangana government is ready to take up the Phase 2 expansion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project without any financial participation from the Centre, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said on Monday.
Addressing a press conference, Reddy said the state is prepared to undertake the project entirely on its own to ensure timely expansion of the metro network in Hyderabad. He also urged the Union government to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the project to help accelerate its implementation.
The Chief Minister said he had held multiple rounds of discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Ministers Manohar Lal Khattar and Ashwini Vaishnaw, requesting approval for the long-pending metro expansion proposal.
He noted that the project has already been delayed for several years and stressed the need for swift clearance to move forward with Phase 2 works.
