Tesco's India Expansion Fuels Karnataka's Job Market with 15,000 New Positions.

British retail powerhouse Tesco is set to open a major distribution center in Karnataka, a move expected to generate 15,000 jobs, according to state Industries Minister M. B. Patil. The announcement highlights a surge in UK investment interest following the signing of the landmark India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

Speaking at a reception for the FTA, Patil praised the pact, stating it's projected to increase bilateral trade by £25 billion annually and could nearly double overall trade to around £90 billion by 2030.

The minister noted that the agreement will grant duty-free access to 99% of India's exports to the UK, while 90% of UK exports to India will also enjoy the same benefit. This is expected to create significant new opportunities for businesses in both nations.
