Jolly Grant Airport Expansion Gains Momentum with Swift Land Acquisition

The long-awaited expansion of Jolly Grant Airport has received a significant boost as the district administration successfully acquired 87 hectares of land in a remarkable three-day effort. This decisive action marks substantial progress in the project, bringing closer the prospect of positioning Jolly Grant Airport on the international aviation map.

The breakthrough follows a high-level meeting convened by District Magistrate Savin Bansal at the District Collectorate. The meeting centered on accelerating land acquisition, ensuring timely compensation disbursal, and addressing the resettlement of affected families.

DM Bansal directed officials to expedite the remaining processes with urgency, emphasizing the strategic importance of the airport for enhancing tourism and connectivity in Uttarakhand. He stressed the need for officers to act with seriousness to complete all formalities swiftly, paving the way for Jolly Grant Airport to handle international air traffic in the near future.

During the meeting, officials informed the DM that over 85 percent of the land acquisition work has already been completed. However, a remaining challenge involves 43 families and 93 farmers who possess small, unregistered plots classified as unidentified. To address this, DM Bansal instructed the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Doiwala to procure records of all land registries conducted over the past three years to verify ownership claims and ensure fair compensation.

This rapid progress in land acquisition under the DM's initiative signals a renewed commitment to the Jolly Grant Airport expansion project, offering hope for enhanced air connectivity and economic growth for the region.
