Thiruvananthapuram airport land acquisition move opposed.
The residents of the Vallakadavu-Vayamoola area are up in arms against the move of the district administration to acquire 32.8 hectares of land needed for the development of the Thiruvananthapuram international airport.
People who had been opposing the land acquisition move came to know of the proceedings after revenue authorities laid boundary stone between the Kanniyamkara Punnamoodu temple and Kalathuvilakom temple on recent afternoon.
The revenue officials, accompanied by Airports Authority of India (AAI) staff, were surrounded by people when they were near the houses built on the 'encroached land' on the banks of the Parvathy Puthanar. The canal runs close to boundary wall of the international terminal on city side.
