Three major projects for Nalgonda.

To boost the ongoing first Telangana Formation Day celebrations, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will lay foundation for three major projects in Nalgonda district on June 8.

The Chief Minister will address a massive public meeting at NG College grounds in the evening.

Energy Minister G. Jagadishwar Reddy said the Chief Minister would unveil the pylon of 4000 MW Damarcherla power plant which was given the name of Yadadri power plant at Verulapalem village at 4.40 p.m. He will be coming in a chopper from Hyderabad.

Later, Mr. Rao will fly to Deverakonda to lay foundation stone to mid-Dindi project. At 6 p.m., he will arrive to Choutuppal to unveil the water grid pylon. Mr. Rao will proceed to Nalgonda by road to address the public meeting at NG College grounds at 7 p.m. The Energy Minister said they have struck a deal with Bharat Heavy Electronics Limited (BHEL) to complete Rs.1,790 crore at Yadadri power plant in four years. Two turbines each capable of generating 800 MW power will be completed within three years and the rest will be completed in four years. Talking about the rehabilitation and resettlement plans, the Energy Minister said that they would offer the best package ever to the farmers those who are losing their land under the project and residents of Modugula Tanda and Kappura Thanda.

The State government acquired about 4,460 acres for thermal power plant in which 1,710 acres belong to farmers of Damarcherla mandal.

During an interaction with the villagers on Tuesday, the Minister assured that the displaced would be given best compensation besides, providing housing at a new rehabilitation colony. District Collector P. Satyanarayana Reddy said that they were making all arrangements for the CM visit. The construction of the thermal power plant was also expedited, he said.
