TIDITSSIA office taps solar power.
The Tiruchi District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association (TIDITSSIA) has taken the solar power route to meet its power requirements for its administrative office building here.
A one kilo-watt solar photovoltaic power plant has been installed at the TIDITSSIA office to use the green energy for its day-to-day power requirements.
Installed at a cost of Rs. 2.45 lakh, the solar power unit was commissioned by K. Gopalakrishnan, president, Tamil Nadu Small and Tiny Industries Association (TANSTIA), Chennai, recently .
The plant will generate 1.5 to 1.8 MW per year. Solar power would be used for running all lights, fans, and other electrical and electronic equipment in the office barring the air-conditioner. Among the Tiny and Small Scale Industries Associations spread across the State, the TIDITSSIA is the first to install solar power unit in its administrative office, said Raju Rebero, president, TIDITSSIA.
Mr. Gopalakrishnan said solar power was required in the current scenario where power cuts had become regular.
He exhorted the tiny and small industrial units to install solar power units in their respective establishments.
