TN govt to build 12,000 houses for weaker section
The Tamilnadu government today announced development of a satellite township project to house 12,000 dwelling units for the weaker sections under a Rs 2,160-crore project.
The township would come up on 311.05 acres at Thirumazhisai off Chennai-Bangalore highway, about 30 km from Chennai.
The land belonging to Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) would be utilised for the project besides acquiring 12.87 acres covering five villages, she said in a suo moto statement.
The multi-storeyed project would be undertaken by TNHB and would have all amenities including schools and hospital.
The project would benefit people belonging to marginalised sections, small and middle income groups would be the beneficiaries of the project that would make available houses at affordable price.
TNHB would also construct 554 houses in multi-storey in 3.73 acres of land in Ashok Pillar area in the heart of the city at a cost of Rs 100 crore.
