TN Signs Pact with IN-SPACe for New Testing Facility in Thoothukudi.

Tamil Nadu is set to establish a new Common Technology Facility (CTF) for space vehicles in Thoothukudi, marking a significant step in strengthening the state’s aerospace ecosystem.

The agreement for the facility was signed on June 11 between the State Industries Department and the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe). It was formally presented to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay recently.

The proposed facility will be developed within the upcoming Space Industrial Park at Allikulam in Thoothukudi district.

As part of the agreement, IN-SPACe will provide equipment worth ₹100 crore, while the Tamil Nadu government will contribute the required land and supporting infrastructure for the project.

Officials said the facility is expected to boost space-sector capabilities in the state by enabling testing and development support for space vehicles and related technologies.
