Tripura Minister Thanks Centre for Approving Final Location Survey of New Railway Line.
Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnaw after the Ministry of Railways approved the final location survey (FLS) for a new 14-km railway line between Jirania and the Bodhjungnagar industrial estate in West Tripura.
The North Frontier Railway (NFR) stated on Monday that the survey has been sanctioned at an estimated cost of ₹42 lakh. The move is seen as a key step toward strengthening railway infrastructure and boosting industrial activity in the northeastern state.
In a Facebook post, Chowdhury said, “The approval for the construction of this new railway line is an important step in strengthening the railway infrastructure in the state and increasing the mobility of various industries in the industrial city of Bodhjungnagar.” He added that the line, once commissioned, will serve as a crucial rail corridor for transporting goods from Bodhjungnagar, benefiting local businesses and residents.
The minister highlighted that the project will further industrial development in districts adjoining West Tripura and significantly contribute to the regional economy. “This important project will play a special role in improving railway connectivity in the state and boosting economic growth of the region,” he said, expressing heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Modi, Chief Minister Manik Saha, and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for their support.
