Tripura MP Lauds PM Modi for Greenlit Agartala-Guwahati Rail Link.

In a significant move set to bolster railway connectivity across the Northeast, the central government has approved a new train service connecting Agartala and Guwahati (Narangi). This development follows persistent advocacy from West Tripura MP and former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.

Deb announced the breakthrough on social media, expressing his gratitude. "Another achievement. I express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving the launch of a new rail service on the Agartala-Guwahati route, respecting the demands of the people of Tripura and prioritising passenger comfort," he stated.

Sources close to the MP indicate that the approval came swiftly after Deb's meeting with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi on April 22. During the meeting, Deb reportedly made a strong case for enhanced railway services in Tripura, including the introduction of new express trains and a broader modernization of infrastructure.

A direct train service between Agartala and Guwahati was a key proposal aimed at improving regional connectivity and passenger convenience. The Railway Ministry responded promptly, formally approving the new service and informing Deb via an official letter.

Deb specifically thanked Railway Minister Vaishnaw for the quick response and for honoring the assurance given during their recent discussion. The new train service is expected to significantly improve travel and trade between Tripura and Assam, boosting accessibility in the region and benefiting thousands of passengers.
