TS Govt Sanctions Rs. 16,000 Cr for Water Grid, LI Works.

The state government has accorded administrative sanction to a tune of Rs. 16,000 crore for Drinking Water Grid and Palamur-Ranga Reddy lift irrigation project first phase works.

Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao signed the files relating to it recently.

According to an official release, the officials concerned submitted a report for taking up water grid works in 26 segments in nine districts of the state. For executing the same, the government has sanctioned Rs. 1,518.52 crore to take up works in 14 segments.

With the sanctioned funds, works would be taken up on intake wells, water treatment plants, raw water pumping main and high tension power supply. As per the government policy to utilise 10 per cent of water from irrigation projects for drinking water purpose, the irrigation department had allocated 39.272 tmc water for the water grid project, the release said.

With regard to first phase of Palamur-Ranga Reddy lift irrigation scheme, the government has released Rs. 14,350 crore. The first phase works will be taken up to lift 70 tmc water from Jurala reservoir to Koilkonda. As per the detailed report prepared by the officials, irrigation water can be provided to 10 lakh acres in three districts apart from providing drinking water to several villages in the first phase.
