TS invites bids for water grid.
The Telangana government has invited bids for the first phase of its prestigious 'Telangana Drinking Water Project' also known as 'Telangana Water Grid' project.
A total of 11 packages worth Rs.16,000 crore have been notified for e-procurement tendering by the office of the Engineer-in-Chief, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation recently. This is only part of the flagship project, works for which are segregated into 26 packages, estimated to cost Rs.34,580 crore.
The currently notified packages entail pipeline works pertaining to seven districts, namely Nalgonda, Medak, Mahabubnagar, Warangal, Khammam, Adilabad and Ranga Reddy, with a major chunk worth over Rs.6,500 crore being allotted for Mahabubnagar, and part of Ranga Reddy districts.
The foremost package, divided into two parts, is for providing primary transmission system from Yelluru reservoir till secondary transmission system within Mahabubnagar district, with the aim of providing drinking water to Mahabubnagar and part of Ranga Reddy districts, besides secondary transmission system in Mahabubnagar for supply to 55 mandals and nine municipalities. A total of Rs.5,953 crore has been allotted for this. Another package of Rs.700 crore has been allotted for providing for Gadwal and Alampur constituencies from Jurala project. Works pertaining to laying of pipelines up to Medchal for supply through HMWS&SB are allotted Rs.160 crore, while two more packages for supplying to five constituencies in Nalgonda from Akkampally Balancing Reservoir, and four more from Krishna tail pond respectively have been allotted Rs.3,591 crore. Another package for supply to Sangareddy in Medak from Singur is given Rs.680 crore. Intra village pipeline network along with service reservoirs at a cost of Rs.700 crore will provide drinking water to Gajwel segment in Medak district, from Yellampally. Rs.670 crore have been allotted in two parts for providing drinking water to Yellampally, Mancherial, Chennur segments, besides Khanapur constituency of Adilabad district.
Another package worth Rs.1,700 crore is allotted for providing water to 17 mandals in Warangal and one mandal in Khammam district, while another for Rs.840 crore is to provide for HMWS&SB segment in Warangal.
