Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Approves 49 Bus Stations Under PPP Mode.

Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved the development of 49 bus stations of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation under the public-private partnership (PPP) model based on the DBFOT (Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer) framework.

Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh said the cabinet cleared three proposals submitted by the transport department. He added that the initiative aims to modernise bus infrastructure and improve passenger amenities across the state.

The 49 bus stations will be developed under the second phase of the PPP programme, following the approval of 23 stations in the first phase last year. Officials said the new facilities will offer upgraded, state-of-the-art amenities, including shopping malls and cinema halls, transforming them into integrated transport-cum-commercial hubs.

To encourage wider investor participation, the government has also relaxed certain terms and conditions for bidding under the PPP framework.

In addition, the cabinet approved two land-related proposals for bus station development. In Bulandshahr, over one hectare of irrigation department land in Narora will be transferred for a bus depot after the expiry of a lease previously held by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited. Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited.

In another decision, two hectares of Public Works Department Uttar Pradesh land in Tulsipur will be transferred free of cost to address long-standing passenger demands for a structured bus station near the Devi Patan Temple. Additionally, around 10 hectares of land in Ratanpur and Hussainpur villages under Sikandrarao tehsil in Hathras will also be allocated for the project.

Officials said the new bus stations will be developed as economic hubs featuring retail shops and food courts, aimed at improving passenger convenience, boosting local employment, and increasing revenue for UPSRTC through commercial activities.
