"Uttar Pradesh Secures ₹1.15 Trillion Investment in Green Hydrogen Sector"

Uttar Pradesh has secured nearly ₹1.15 trillion in private investment proposals for the green hydrogen sector, significantly advancing the state’s clean energy initiatives. The proposals from 17 companies are projected to create approximately 20,000 job opportunities.

Among the major contributors, UK-based Trafalgar Square Capital has committed to establishing a 10,000-tonne-per-annum green hydrogen production facility near Lucknow. Additionally, textile giant Welspun Group plans to invest ₹40,000 crore in a green hydrogen or ammonia plant in Bulandshahr, while Hygenco Green Energies aims to set up a 0.2 million-tonne green hydrogen facility in Prayagraj with an investment of ₹16,000 crore.

The Yogi Adityanath government has set an ambitious target of producing 1 million tonnes of green hydrogen or green ammonia annually by 2029. Anupam Shukla, director of the UP New & Renewable Energy Development Agency, emphasized the importance of green hydrogen as a viable solution for sustainable energy in the face of climate change.

Green hydrogen and ammonia are generated through the electrolysis of water using renewable energy or stored renewable energy, marking a significant step towards a cleaner energy future for the state.
