Various construction comapanies to be involved in AJK’s uplift projects:

Mirpur: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister, Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan has directed nation-building departments to ensure involvement of major construction companies of national and international repute for execution of mega vital development projects.

The AJK Premier issued these directives while addressing a high level meeting held here on Saturday to review various existing and new development projects in Mirpur district. The meeting reviewed in length the pace as well as quality of the construction work on various projects including greater water supply and sewerage, construction of roads and Rathua-Harayam bridge in the area. The AJK Prime Minister ordered for early completion of the development projects besides maintaining stipulated quality of the material being used in the projects.

Attique further advised to keep in view the experience and credibility of the construction companies while awarding the contracts. He also advised heads of the nation-building departments to keep the complete profile of each project while briefing about the projects in the next development review meetings besides making the check list of each project to monitor the quality of the projects as well as their timely completion.

The Prime Minister said that financial resources have been provided for the development projects and now it was the responsibility of the concerned departments to execute the construction work on the projects timely. He said that any delay in completion would not be tolerated.

Attique also directed for early completion of the paper work for construction of Rathua-Harayam cable-stay bridge between Mirpur City and adjoining town of Islamgarh. He also directed for the completion of the under-construction greater water supply and sewerage projects in the city. All the three bridges, water supply and sewerage projects were executed by the government of Pakistan in the wake of Mangla dam raising project.

The Prime Minister directed Secretary Electricity AJK Muhammad Iqbal Rattiyal to immediately move for resolving the issues of determining of subsidised power tariff for AJK consumers with Wapda.
