Waaree Secures Government Approval for 5.25 GW Solar Cell Manufacturing Capacity.
Waaree Energies Ltd has received approval for its solar photovoltaic cell manufacturing capacity under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy’s (MNRE) Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II, strengthening its position in India’s domestic solar value chain.
According to a notification issued by MNRE on December 15, 2025, as part of the third revision of ALMM List-II, Waaree has secured approval for a total capacity of 5.25 GW per annum at its Degam facility in Chikhli, Navsari district of Gujarat. The approved capacity comprises 3,923 MW of N-type TOPCon cells and 1,328 MW of P-type PERC bifacial cells.
India’s largest solar PV module manufacturer announced the development on Tuesday.
Commenting on the approval, Sunil Rathi, Executive Director at Waaree Energies, said inclusion in ALMM List-II would accelerate domestic backward integration in the solar manufacturing ecosystem. He added that scaling up high-efficiency TOPCon and PERC cell production in India would help reduce import dependence while offering developers and EPC contractors greater assurance on quality, supply continuity, and regulatory compliance.
