Wipro GE Healthcare, Tata Memorial Centre Partner for Mumbai Cancer Research Facility.

In a significant step towards combating the rising tide of cancer in India, the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Wipro GE HealthCare Technologies Inc. to establish a dedicated Cancer Research & Innovation Centre at TMC Mumbai. This collaborative initiative will see Wipro GE Healthcare serve as the technology partner, while TMC will provide its unparalleled expertise as the clinical oncology partner.

The need for such a facility is underscored by alarming statistics. In India, approximately 100 out of every 100,000 people are diagnosed with cancer annually. Furthermore, a recent report from the Cancer Registry Program projects a concerning 12.8 percent increase in cancer incidence by 2025 compared to 2020. These figures highlight the urgent requirement for precision-driven, AI-enabled solutions to significantly advance cancer care across the nation.

Dr. C.S. Pramesh, Director of Tata Memorial Hospital, emphasized the government's strategic approach to cancer control, including the establishment of day care centers, expansion of the cancer care ecosystem, and promotion of screening and awareness programs. However, he acknowledged persistent challenges. "Early detection, equitable access, and preventive care remain a challenge," Dr. Pramesh stated. "With this partnership with Wipro GE HealthCare, we aim to enhance clinical research and promote academic engagement to transform personalized cancer care for improved outcomes in cancer care."
