Wipro Infra to Invest ₹500 Crore in Karnataka for Copper-Clad Laminate Plant, Creating 350 Jobs.

Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN) has announced a significant strategic diversification with the launch of its new business division, Wipro Electronic Materials. This new venture will focus on manufacturing high-performance base materials crucial for Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), a key component in the electronics industry.

The new state-of-the-art facility will be established in Karnataka and is slated to begin production in 2026. Wipro's investment in this plant is approximately ₹500 crore, a move expected to generate around 350 new jobs.

The plant is designed to produce over 6 million sheets of copper-clad laminates and corresponding prepreg materials annually, addressing the growing demand for indigenous electronic components.

Pratik Kumar, CEO of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN) and MD of Wipro Enterprises, highlighted the pioneering nature of this investment. "Wipro Electronic Materials marks a first-of-its-kind investment in India’s electronics manufacturing landscape," Kumar stated. He further acknowledged that this ambitious project was "made possible through the timely support of the Government of Karnataka and MeitY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology)."

This initiative by Wipro is a significant step towards bolstering India's self-reliance in the electronics manufacturing sector, aligning with the government's 'Make in India' vision.
