Work apace on Singareni Collieries second power plant.
The second 600-MW unit of Singareni Thermal Power Project at Jaipur in Adilabad district is at an advanced stage of construction, and is expected to be commissioned shortly, said Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) officials, while announcing that it has recently successfully commissioned the first 600-MW unit.
Stating that BHEL has a major contribution in Telangana’s power sector – commissioned 85 per cent of the coal-based power stations amounting to 5,180 MW – a release from the company said in a span of three months it commissioned two thermal power plants in the State.
In December 2015, it had commissioned a 600-MW plant at Kakatiya. With the facility going on stream, Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has diversified into the power generation business.
The BHEL-built 600 MW rating sets comprise a four-cylinder turbine designed in-house. The company has contracted 21 sets of 600 MW each, of which 15 have already been commissioned, the release added.
The Telangana government has placed orders on BHEL for executing around 6,000 MW thermal power projects on EPC basis.
