ONGC partners with BP subsidiary to improve production from western offshore fields.

State-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation recently said it has selected BP Exploration Services India, a wholly-owned step-down subsidiary of BP plc, as the technical services provider (TSP) for its western offshore fields, excluding the Mumbai High field.

According to ONGC, the TSP will assess field performance and recommend improvements in reservoirs, facilities and wells to enhance hydrocarbon production from the western offshore assets.

The company said BPXS has projected a potential increase of around 10.8 per cent in crude oil production over the 10-year contract period, raising output from a baseline 46.25 million tonnes to 51.26 million tonnes. Gas production is also expected to rise by about 31.5 per cent, from 82.68 billion cubic metres to 108.69 billion cubic metres during the contract tenure, ONGC added.
