Work on the Jaipur Metro commences

Works on the construction of underground tunnel and installation of electrical via duct for the metro rail project in Jaipur district of Rajasthan. This work is slated to be completed in November 2012.

The project envisages development of metro rail in length of 33.25 km in two phases at a cost Rs 9,100 crore. Phase I likely to connect Mansarovar to Chandpol, covering a distance of 9.25 km.

In this route, while nine km will be on an elevated track, the rest 0.5 km will be underground and Phase II will run between Panipech and Sitapura industrial area, covering 24 km.

The project is contracted by ITD Cementation.
