ZF Group takes up Pune plant extension.
ZF Group, a global leader in driveline and chassis technology as well as active and passive safety technologies, has performed the ground-breaking ceremony for extension of its Pune plant. By the year-end, a new production complex with 4,000 square metres (sqm) will be completed, offering more space for production and warehousing activities.
The company expects to produce more chassis modules, truck and van driveline as well as powertrain modules for passenger cars at the plant from 2020 onwards.
Four years after its inauguration in 2015, ZF Group regional headquarters in Chakan, Pune, is growing. The current facility with its 16,770 sqm built-up space is fully utilised with today’s commercial vehicle, car powertrain and aftermarket business.
“This investment is a strong signal for the region and the commitment to grow business in the region. India is an important growth market for ZF and, therefore, we are expanding our presence here,” said Holger Klein, Member of Board of Management, ZF Friedrichshafen AG.
“With this investment in new building infrastructure, we will be able to fulfil growing customer demands in future” said Suresh KV, Head of ZF India Pvt Ltd. ZF Friedrichshafen AG has a global workforce of 146,000 at 230 locations in 40 countries. In 2017, ZF achieved sales of €36.4 billion and as such, is one of the largest automotive suppliers worldwide.
