Railway Board Unveils Plans for Expansion and Modernisation of Danapur Division.

Railway Board Chairman Satish Kumar has outlined ambitious plans for the expansion and modernisation of the Danapur division under the East Central Railway (ECR), aiming to enhance both passenger and freight transport.

At a high-level meeting held last Friday, discussions centered on upgrading the region’s rail infrastructure, including the addition of third and fourth lines to accommodate increasing traffic. Danapur Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Jayant Kumar Choudhary confirmed that the region is focusing on crucial developments to improve connectivity and operational efficiency.

On Monday, the Danapur division submitted detailed proposals for infrastructure development, which include the construction of additional tracks on busy corridors, the upgrading of several key railway stations, and the introduction of a modern signalling system. The Railway Board also received updates on the current status of ongoing works.

Danapur Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) Aadhar Raj highlighted that a survey is underway for the proposed third and fourth lines on the 400 km stretch from DDU to Jhjaha via Patna Junction, with an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore.

Choudhary emphasized that the new lines will significantly improve operational efficiency and reduce travel times, benefiting both passengers and freight operators. ADRM Raj noted that the Chairman stressed the importance of these expansions in easing congestion, improving regional connectivity, and supporting the economic growth of the region by facilitating smoother transportation of goods.

The expansion of the Danapur division is part of a broader initiative to modernise and enhance rail infrastructure across Bihar, Raj added.
