Development of one million square feet of workspace dedicated to start-ups in the next five years is one of the goals the Telangana government has decided to pursue under its Innovation Policy.

Towards this, it will partner with 20 global accelerators/incubators to build facilities on PPP mode. The idea is to build ‘plug and play’ work spaces across different sectors and locations in the State, the Innovation Policy launched here on Monday said. Manipal Global Education chairman and former Director of Infosys Mohandas Pai, who launched the policy, highlighted the significance of Telangana to digitally empowering the people and create an innovation fund of Rs.3,000 crore to Rs. 4,000 crore.

According to the policy, the government will look to mobilise Rs. 2,000 crore for start-ups across different sector and growth stages. Noting that the plan is to place “Hyderabad firmly on the global innovation map,” the policy said the second phase of T-Hub incubator would be a 3 lakh sq. ft facility to house 900 start-ups. The work is to be completed in five years.
