22 reconstruction projects completed in Sari-i-Pul province

Mazar-i-sharif: More than 22 reconstruction projects have been completed in Sari-i-Pul province, a senior government official said.

The schemes including digging of 30 wells, pavement of a road, construction of 40 small bridges, four school buildings, eight water reservoirs and 250 meters of a supportive wall.

Deputy Governor Qamaruddin Shakib said two generators were installed and five toilets reconstructed to facilitate residents. He said the World Bank- funded projects in the provincial capital and Syed district were completed in six months.

The projects worth 18.5 million afghanis would benefit more than 5,500 families, added the deputy governor.

Rural Rehabilitation and Development (RRD) Department Director Amanullah Amin, meanwhile, promised public welfare schemes would continue to be planned and executed in the province.

Inaugurating a primary school in the Syedabad area of the provincial capital, MRRD Minister Eng. Ahmad Zia said his ministry would implement several uplift plans next year.

According to information from the RRD director, more than 1,124 projects have been undertaken in the province under the National Solidarity Programme (NSP). Since the launch of the program in 2004, 42 schemes have been executed in Sur-i-Pul.
