Acer Plans to Open Over 90 Stores in India by Early Next Year.

Acer India is set to significantly expand its retail footprint across the country by launching over 90 stores by the beginning of 2025. With the inauguration of its 210th store today, marking its 10th in Bengaluru, the tech giant aims to reach a total of 300-325 stores in the near future.

"40% of our business is consumer-centric, with the remaining 60% focused on commercial business. Five years ago in 2019, nearly 45% of our consumer businreess came from online channels," said Harish Kohli, President and Managing Director of Acer India, in an interview with businessline. "Since then, this has shifted significantly. As of now, only 26% of our consumer business is online, while 74% is through offline channels."

Acer recently introduced its Acerpure range of consumer electronics and appliances in India, encompassing products like TVs, water and air purifiers, air circulator fans, and accessories. The company's strategic expansion comes on the heels of surpassing Lenovo to become the third largest player in the Indian PC market. Kohli highlighted that Acer India achieved its highest-ever numbers in the second quarter of the calendar year 2024, with projections indicating a further 1.5-fold increase in the third quarter.

"All our notebooks, all-in-one desktops, interactive flat panels, tablets, TVs, and water purifiers are manufactured in India," Kohli emphasized. "We have actively participated in the PLI (Production Linked Incentive) schemes and have been successful in meeting the government's targets under PLI 1.0 and 2.0. Looking ahead, our goal is to localize more of our product manufacturing in India rather than relying on imports."

Acer's expansion plans underscore its commitment to bolstering its presence in both consumer and commercial segments, leveraging India's growing market potential and government incentives for local manufacturing.
