Adani Energy Launches Cooling Business with Mundra Facility.

Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) has officially launched its cooling solutions business, with plans to implement projects totaling 52,000 tonnes of refrigeration (TR) capacity. A cornerstone of this new venture is the development of India's largest district cooling facility in Mundra, Gujarat, boasting an impressive 45,000 TR capacity.

AESL CEO Kandarp Patel shared these details with investors and analysts earlier this week, emphasizing the company's significant entry into this burgeoning market. "We have made a start in our cooling solutions business. We are building India’s largest district cooling facility at Mundra... The total capacity that we are currently implementing is 52,000 tonnes of refrigeration," said Patel. He also hinted at rapid expansion, adding, "We are also talking to several developers and you will see significant action in the coming days."

Patel highlighted the transformative potential of district cooling systems, noting their ability to eliminate the need for individual air conditioners and their associated maintenance costs. While the concept is still gaining traction in India, he believes it presents a "humongous opportunity" for the country.

"Theoretically, the entire requirement for air-conditioners can be converted into district cooling," Patel explained. He further underscored the energy efficiency benefits, stating that a district cooling plant can improve energy efficiency by "at least 20 per cent." This aligns with global trends, as district cooling is a common phenomenon in regions like West Asia and other countries. Patel anticipates that this concept will gain "a lot of traction in the coming days in India."

This strategic move by AESL positions them at the forefront of a potentially revolutionary shift in India's approach to commercial and industrial cooling, promising enhanced energy efficiency and reduced operational complexities.
