Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has been selected as the preferred bidder for a major ₹25,000 crore transmission system project under the Rajasthan Part-I Power Transmission initiative, according to industry sources. This would mark AESL's largest-ever order win upon formal award.
As of September, AESL’s ongoing project pipeline for transmission was valued at ₹27,300 crore, covering 12 projects, according to the company’s media statement.
The project, awarded under tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB), involves the development of an interstate transmission system (ISTS). It is designated as the Transmission system for evacuation of power from REZ in Rajasthan (20 Gw) under Phase-III Part-I, and will be managed by the special purpose vehicle (SPV) Rajasthan Part-I Power Transmission Ltd.
The re-tender follows the annulment of a previous tendering process for undisclosed reasons. Other qualified bidders in the initial round included Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL), Sterlite Power, and Indigrid.
The project entails the establishment of 6 GW HVDC terminal stations at Bhadla in Rajasthan and Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh, along with transmission lines and an associated AC network linking the two stations.
AESL has not yet responded to media queries regarding the project. The company typically informs exchanges about project wins related to the transfer of SPVs, with its most recent update occurring in November when it announced the execution of a share purchase agreement (SPA) with PFC Consulting Limited for the Pune-III Transmission project, designed to evacuate 7 GW of renewable energy from the Khavda RE Park.
During a recent investor call, Kandarp Patel, CEO of AESL, expressed confidence in winning ₹15,000-20,000 crore worth of projects over the next six months, supported by a robust project bid pipeline valued at ₹85,000 crore.
