Adani Group Inaugurates India's Premier Off-Grid Green Hydrogen Plant in Gujarat.
Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL) has announced the commissioning of India’s first off-grid 5 MW green hydrogen pilot plant in Kutch, Gujarat. This marks a significant milestone in the nation's clean energy transition, demonstrating a novel approach to sustainable hydrogen production.
Operational as of June 23, 2025, the facility distinguishes itself by running entirely on solar power, integrated with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This innovative setup allows the plant to function independently of the conventional power grid.
At the heart of the facility is a fully automated, closed-loop electrolyzer system. This advanced system is designed to respond in real-time to variable renewable energy inputs, effectively mitigating the challenges posed by solar power fluctuations while ensuring consistent operational efficiency. The plant's off-grid design represents a pioneering model for decentralized, renewable-powered hydrogen production within India.
This pilot plant is expected to play a crucial role in scaling up green hydrogen production, a key element in decarbonizing various industrial sectors and achieving India's ambitious clean energy targets.
