German sportswear major Adidas is strengthening its manufacturing presence in India as the country gains a larger role in the company’s global footwear supply chain, although Vietnam and Indonesia continue to remain its dominant sourcing hubs.
The company’s January 2026 global supplier list shows that India currently has 14 supplier facilities employing around 22,600 workers, with Apache Footwear in Tirupati emerging as the largest supplier base in the country.
Adidas is set to further expand its India sourcing network with the commissioning of the Evervan Kothari footwear manufacturing plant in Karur, Tamil Nadu, on July 10. Industry sources estimate that India currently contributes around 5-10% of Adidas’ global footwear sourcing.
The Karur facility, a joint venture between Evervan Group and Kothari Industrial Corporation, is expected to have an annual production capacity of 40 million pairs of footwear and generate around 15,000 jobs.
The new plant marks a significant investment in India’s footwear manufacturing ecosystem and reflects Adidas’ growing confidence in the country as a strategic production base for global markets.
