"Ambala Airport Set to Begin Civil Flights on August 15th"

Haryana Civil Aviation Minister Kamal Gupta announced on Monday that civil flights at Ambala airport are scheduled to commence operations starting August 15th. He directed officials from Civil Aviation, Power, Public Works (Buildings and Roads), and Fire Service Departments to expedite civil and electrical infrastructure works, including parking facilities, ahead of the launch.

During a review meeting held in Ambala, Gupta highlighted that the Indian Air Force Station's runway would be utilized for aircraft takeoffs and landings. The airport's inauguration is expected to significantly benefit travelers not only from Haryana but also from neighboring states such as Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh.

Gupta further mentioned that airlines would soon finalize a memorandum of understanding with the state government to initiate flight operations under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS)-UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik). RCS-UDAN, launched by the Ministry of Civil Aviation in October 2016, aims to enhance connectivity and infrastructure across remote and underserved regions. The scheme's inaugural flight, connecting Shimla to Delhi, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 27, 2017.
