American contractor McDermott wins EPC deal in Saudi Arabia.

The US contracting giant said the fixed lump sum contract encompasses the EPC works for four ammonia tanks and nine 'CB&I Storage Tanks' at Saudi Arabian Mining Company's (Ma’aden) Ras Al Khair ammonia plant..

Work on the project will predominantly be implemented from Saudi Arabia using McDermott’s “local capabilities and facilities”.

McDermott said it describes the contract as “sizeable” due to its value of $1-$50m (SAR272,200 to SAR13.6m).

“CB&I storage tanks consistently deliver innovative storage solutions for clients such as Daelim,” said Linh Austin, McDermott's senior vice president for Middle East and North Africa, speaking on the win.

The past two years have seen McDermott ramp up its commitment in the kingdom. In May 2017, it signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Saudi Aramco to expand and develop its human capital within the kingdom.

In October 2018, McDermott reportedly beat out EPC contracting companies from India, France, and the UK to win Al Yasat Petroleum Company’s contract for its Belbazem offshore project in Abu Dhabi, worth almost $1bn (AED3.67bn).
