Amway to start Tamil Nadu unit.
The largest direct-selling FMCG-company in the country Amway India is all set to commission its upcoming plant near Madurai in Tamil Nadu by the end of this year.
Amway India, chief marketing officer, Sundip Shah made this announcement on the sidelines of the launch of the company's 'Nutrilite All Plant Protein Pow-der' in the city.
'We have invested Rs. 550 crore to set up the Madurai plant. The work at the plant is moving rapidly and we are expecting to start operations in the later part of the year. We will start with servicing the country first and gradually turn it into a regional hub for manufacturing for regions beyond the country especially in South East Asia,' Mr Shah elaborated.
He said the company was hoping to double its sales of the protein-based products by 2020.
'The protein based products generated Rs. 300 crore as revenue in 2013-14. We are hoping to double our sales of protein by 2020,' the chief of marketing added.
