Andhra Pradesh to Issue Fresh Tenders for Amaravati Capital Project Soon: Minister Narayana.

The Andhra Pradesh government will soon begin the process of inviting fresh tenders to complete the development of the Greenfield Amaravati Capital, following legal clearance on the cancellation of previous tenders. Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, P. Narayana, announced the decision after the 39th Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) meeting in Amaravati, which was chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday.

Minister Narayana stated that all pending development work in Amaravati is expected to be completed within the next three years. During the TDP government’s term from 2014 to 2019, tenders worth ₹41,000 crore were issued, with ₹35,000 crore allocated towards projects such as the construction of the High Court, the Assembly, residential complexes, and key infrastructure. However, Narayana criticized the previous administration for neglecting these projects and delaying payments to agencies due to its focus on a three-capital plan.

To address these issues, a technical committee of chief engineers was formed on July 24 to establish norms for settling pending bills from earlier tenders. Based on the committee’s report, which outlined 23 recommendations, all old tenders will be closed, and new ones will be issued. Fresh tenders for all projects, except the High Court and Assembly buildings, will be floated by December 31, with those for the remaining projects to follow by January.

The World Bank has approved a funding of ₹15,000 crore for Amaravati’s development, contingent on the state’s expedited completion of flood prevention measures. As part of this, reservoirs based on Netherlands design are under construction across the capital region, including gravity canal reservoirs at Kondaveeti and Palavagu, and storage reservoirs at Neerukonda, Krishnayapalem, Sakhamuru, and Vundavalli.

Additionally, Minister Narayana confirmed plans to develop an Inner Ring Road and Outer Ring Road for Amaravati, alongside the existing bypass roads surrounding the capital city.
